Cross Country

Devils place three in top 100

CASTILE, N.Y. -- Fredonia State placed three runners among the top 100 finishers at the Atlantic Regional men's cross country meet.

The Blue Devils, 19th overall of 34 teams, were led by freshman Tom Williams (Queensbury/Qhueensbury), who was 74th overall in 27:35.5 for 8,000 meters.

Finishing right behind Williams, in 75th, was senior Kevin Buzzelli (Grand Island/Grand Island), in 27:37.4, while freshman Jared Newell (Queensbury/Queensbury) was 85th in 27:48.5.

Senior Jason Smith (Queensbury/Queensbury) and sophomore Matthew Wysocki (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) were 118th and 152nd, respectively, to round out Fredonia State's scoring . Smith was timed in 28:31.8, while Wysocki crossed the line in 29:33.3.

Also competing for the Blue Devils were sophomore Ben Battin (Marietta, Ga./St. Francis) and sophomore Joe Vella (Hamburg/Hamburg).

New York University won the team championship. The race was held at Letchworth State Park.
