A tie-breaking sixth-inning homer by sophomore Bree Crossett (Wayland/Wayland-Cohochton) lifted the Blue Devils to an eventual 8-4 victory over Southern Maine. In the second game Saturday, juniors Cristina Reale (Geneva) and Brittany Connell (Geneva) hit back-to-back blasts during a three-run fifth inning of a 6-3 victory over Wisconsin-Superior. It was the first time the Blue Devils had defeated either of Saturday's foes. The had lost two previous meetings vs. Southern Maine, and were 0-3 vs. Superior-Wisconsin. In the victory over Southern Maine, junior Andrea Devon (Elmira/Notre Dame) earned her second pitching win against no losses with one inning of scoreless relief. Freshman Adriana Connell (Geneva) pitched the first five innings and left with the scoret tied 4-4. Reale pitched one scoreless inning in relief of Devon, then returned for a complete-game victory over Wisconsin-Superior. She, too, improved to 2-0 in the early spring. The Blue Devils collected 25 hits in the two games with sophomore Samantha Voncina (Angola/Lake Shore) leading the way with six hits, including 4 for 4 vs. Superior. Reale and freshman Maria Siderakis (Webster/Webster-Schroeder) had four hits in the two games, freshman Kristy Sheridan (Buffalo/Mount Mercy) had two doubles vs. Southern Maine, and freshman Amy Coniglio (Dunkirk) had two singles vs. Superior.
