In the first game, junior righthander Cristina Reale (Geneva) kept her team in the game by pitching out of a pair of jams in the early innings. The host Bengals finally broke through with a solo homer by Jordan Banach in the last of the third inning, added two more runs in the fourth, and tacked on an insurance run in the sixth to support the five-hit pitching of Aimee Fisher. Five different Blue Devils hit safely, including sophomore Samantha Voncina (Angola/Lake Shore), whose hit was a double. The Blue Devils jumped to a 2-0 lead with a pair of first-inning runs in Game 2. Singles by freshman Kristy Sheridan (Buffalo/Mount Mercy) and sophomore Jessica Thompson (Falconer) preceded a two-out single by sophomore Andrea Devon (Elmira/Notre Dame). Sheridan scored on the hit and Thompson scored on a Buffalo State error. But the longball came back to haunt the Blue Devils and Devon, who took the loss. She yielded a solo homer by Marissa Mariano in the second inning and a three-run blast by Banach in the third resulting in a 4-2 Bengal lead. Nicole Maher later added a solo homer to the Bengal cause. The Blue Devils' scheduled doubleheader Wednesday with Pitt-Bradford has been cancelled to enable the latter to make-up conference games. As a result, the Blue Devils are finished with the home portion of their season. They have seven scheduled road doubleheaders remaining, starting Friday at Plattsburgh, the first of three SUNYAC twinbills this weekend. They also visit Potsdam on Saturday and Oswego Sunday. -------
