Devils fall twice at Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fredonia State dropped a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday, 4-3 and 9-1, to the University of Rochester.

The Blue Devils (9-26-1) fell in the last of the eighth inning of the opener after rallying from a 3-0 deficit. Losing pitcher Ashley Sullivan (Derby/Lake Shore) had an RBI single during a two-run second inning. An RBI single by Sarah Kiehl (Lancaster/Depew) in the top of the sixth sent home the tying run.

Kiehl, Tonja Royce (Forestville/Forestville), and Casey Mazurek (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) had two hits each for Fredonia State. One of Mazurek's hits was a double.

In the second game, Amanda Colburn (Jamestown/Falconer) had two singles to account for half the Blue Devil hits. Sullivan had an RBI. Her sister, Meghan Sullivan (Derby/Lake Shore), was the losing pitcher.

The Blue Devils play their final regular-season road games with a SUNYAC doubleheader Wednesday at Buffalo State.
