Sullivan leads Devils to Oswego split

OSWEGO, N.Y. Ashley Sullivan (Derby/Lake Shore) pitched and batted Fredonia State to a 7-5 victory over Oswego in the second game of a SUNYAC doubleheader.

The Blue Devils (9-14, 4-6) dropped the first game of the doubleheader, 4-1.

In the nightcap, Sullivan pitched a complete-game victory and allowed only one run. She also was 4 for 4 at the plate.

Lindsey Drum (Wayland/Wayland-Cohochton) had a two-run single to break a 2-2 tie in the third inning. She had two hits and three RBI in the game.

In the first game of the pair, Casey Mazurek (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) was working on a 1-hit shutout before the Lakers (9-7, 3-3) exploded for all four of their runs and six hits to erase a 1-0 deficit in the last of the sixth inning.

The Blue Devils managed only four hits off winning pitcher Heather McBride, including a double by Ashley Livermore (Randolph/Randolph) and an RBI single by Amanda Waite (Dunkirk/Dunkirk).

The Blue Devils continue their three-day road trip with a doubleheader Saturday at SUNY Cortland.
