The Devils won the first game in eight innings on an RBI double by Ashley Livermore (Randolph/Randolph) off the left field fence, driving in Jen Grabowski (West Seneca/West Seneca West). Grabowski reached base on a double that drove in Andrea Carlson (Forestville/Pine Valley). Carlson led off the inning with a triple and finished the first game with four hits. Mazurek came on in relief in the sixth inning and struck out eight of 12 batters to end the game. "She sort of dominated when she came in," Fredonia State coach Lorrie Corsi told the Dunkirk Observer. Lindsey Drum (Wayland/Wayland-Cohochton) added three hits, including a double, while Stacie Weidert (Hilton/Hilton) had a pair of hits and two RBIs. Starter Ashley Sullivan (Derby/Lake Shore) struck out one, gave up five hits and two earned runs before Mazurek came on in the sixth. Mazurek went the distance in Game 2 as Fredonia State had a season-high 18 hits in a six-inning victory. She tossed a four-hitter and struck out five. Grabowski (two doubles) and Livermore each had three hits while Drum, Weidert, Mazurek, Nikki Prentice (Frewsburg/Frewsburg), and Samantha Mastrelli (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) each had two. "It was nice to get a lot of hits today," Corsi said. "They were two very crucial games, two games we needed. We got a lot of hits at the right times and good pitching all day from Mazurek."
