The two wins tied the Blue Devils (21-11) with the 2001 team for most victories in a season. The 2001 team posted a 21-15-1 mark. This year's team has six regular-season games left, plus the potential of postseason games in the SUNYAC Tournament. Casey Mazurek (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) improved to 11-4 -- one win short of the single-season Fredonia State school record -- with a nine-inning 4-3 victory in the first game. A double by Ashley Sullivan (Derby/Lake Shore), an error, and an RBI single by Nikki Prentice (Frewsburg/Frewsburg) accounted for the winning run. Jennifer Grabowski (West Seneca/West Seneca West) hit a two-run homer to forge a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning. Aimee Hammill (Lewiston/Niagara Catholic) upped her mark to 5-0 with a 3-2 victory in the nightcap. The day was also a happy homecoming of sorts for Fredonia State senior Heather Mercer (Horseheads/Horseheads). She had four hits in the doubleheader, including a homer in the second game, against the school she attended for one semester as a college freshman before transferring to Fredonia State. The homer was the third of Mercer's season and the eighth of her Fredonia State career. She is the school-record holder in the category as well as the leader in at least seven other offensive categories. The Blue Devils return to SUNYAC action this weekend with doubleheaders Friday at Plattsburgh, and Saturday at Potsdam. Athletics Home | Fredonia Home
