Geneseo sweeps Blue Devils

GENESEO, N.Y. – Fredonia State's hitters were heard little from Tuesday in SUNYAC losses to Geneseo.

The Blue Devils (9-5, 1-3) managed seven hits in the doubleheader -- four singles in a 5-0 opening-game loss, two doubles and a single in a 3-1 setback in the nightcap.

The lone run of the day came in the fourth inning of the second game. Heather Mercer (Horseheads/Horseheads) had a lead-off double and scored on a one-out double by Jen Grabowski (West Seneca/West Seneca West).

Mercer and Grabowski each had a single in the first game.

The pitching losses went to Ashley Sullivan (Derby/Lake Shore) and Casey Mazurek (Dunkirk/Dunkirk). Sullivan fell to 2-4 after dropping Game One. Mazurek is 4-2 after the Game Two loss, a complete-game 10-hitter.

The Blue Devils play a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday at Alfred University.
