Five Blue Devils make All-SUNYAC teams

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Five Fredonia State student-athletes were named All-SUNYAC in their respective spring sports.

Senior outfielder Jennifer Grabowski (West Seneca/West Seneca West) was named to the 20-player 2005 SUNYAC Softball All-Conference Team. Grabowski batted .283 in 36 games and finished with a career college batting average of .317, fourth best in school history. She's also among the school leaders in several offensive categories.

Junior catcher John Papierski (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) and sophomore outfielder Phil Gavin (Rochester/Greece Olympia) received SUNYAC baseball citations. Papierski was selected First Team All-Conference on the strength of a .417 batting average with nine extra-base hits and 19 RBI. He also led the Blue Devils in total bases (58), slugging percentage (.537), and on-base percentage (.496). Gavin was a Second Team choice with a .303 batting average and 15 RBI.

Two Blue Devils also made the 2005 SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Team. Freshman attacker Kaleena Goldsworthy (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) and junior defender Jade Gianforte (Cazenovia/Chittenango) were Second Team selections. Goldsworthy led the Blue Devils in scoring with 37 goals and 45 points. Gianforte led the team with 23 caused turnovers and tied for the team lead with 44 ground balls.
