Gators drop Devils, despite three double winners

MEADVILLE, Pa. The Allegheny Gators put together a strong performance in a pair of dual meet victories over Fredonia State on Saturday. The Gator men defeated the Blue Devils 205-99, while also claiming victory on the women's side, 184-129.

Double winners for the Devils were Cassie Austin (Cuba/Cuba-Rushford), Kelly Sponholz (Alden/Alden) and Noor El-Tahawy (Port Washington/Schreiber).

Austin claimed the 50 yard freestyle (26.21) and the 100 freestyle (56.16). Sponholz won both the diving events, with a score 236.92 in the one meter, and a top mark of 251.70 in the three meter.

El-Tahawy touched first in the 200 butterfly (2:06.60) and 100 butterfly (55.45).

Emily Dizer (Tonawanda/Sweet Home) was the only other Devil to win an event. She claimed the 100 backstroke in 1:06.12.

The women are now 5-2 on the season, while the men drop to 3-4 overall.
