Dunlevy, Dizer, Reisch win thrice

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Monica Dunlevy, Emily Dizer and Morgan Reisch were triple winners, propelling the Fredonia State women's swim team to a 139-89 win over Alfred University in Steele Hall Friday evening.

Dunlevy touched first in the 400-yard IM (5:09.22) and 500-yard freestyle (5:37.24), and was on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay team.

Dizer won the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.92) and 100-yard backstroke (1:06.14), and was part of the winning 400-yard medley relay (4:18.38). Reisch took the 50-yard freestyle (26.23) and the 100-yard freestyle (58.25) and was also part of the 400-yard medley.

Kelly Sponholz was a double-winner on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. Sponholz's scores of 249.65 and 275.35, respectively, were again good enough to qualify her for NCAA's.

Jessica Kennis took first in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 1:08.88.

The men were downed by a score of 141-102.

Josh Brewer won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 227.85, with teammate Scott Horsington finishing a close second with 224.10. Horsington claimed victory in the 3-meter with a score of 267.90.

Other winners included Mike Mitchell in the 500 freestyle (5:10.19), and the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Steve Joint, Tazio Dragani, Derek Greiner and Evan Prewitt (3:29.60).

"A well contested meet," said head coach Arthur Wang. "We had many personal bests today. We had a tougher week with increased weights. I was very happy with the way the team swam. They showed a lot of heart in the close races."

The women improve to 3-1 on the season, while the men fall to 1-3. The Devils next play host to Allegheny College on Nov. 17.
