Austin's winning time was 25.80 seconds, .11 seconds faster than her preliminary time earlier in the evening. She defeated second-place finisher Kelly Williams of Oswego by .26 seconds. Meanwhile, the Fredonia State men's 400-yard medley relay team set a pool record of 3:42.7. The foursome consisted of freshman Alex Palmquist (Olean/Olean), senior Brian Ruffles (Angola/Lake Shore), freshman Noor El-Tahawy (Port Washington/Schreiber), and freshman Mike Seay (Grand Island/Grand Island). In addition, Seay finished second in the 50 free with a time of :22.23, and senior Chris Oaks (Macedon/Palmyra-Macedon) was third in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Among the women, freshman Monica Dunlevy (Batavia/Batavia) was third in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Freshman Amanda Nelson (Frewsburg/Frewsburg) was sixth. The Invitational has four more sessions: 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday.
