The D-III psyche sheets released Friday list Sponholz as having officially qualified for nationals in both 1-meter and 3-meter springboard diving. She was previously listed as a provisional entry -- as were all the divers who attained a qualifying score during the past season. Before they were officially entered, their scores had to be verified by an independent panel of judges viewing videotape. Twenty-two women were accepted in each event. Sponholz is believed to be the first Fredonia State woman to represent the university at the NCAA Division III swimming and diving nationals. She is one of six freshman in the diving competition, and will be one of two women at nationals representing New York State colleges and universities. The other is Molly Freeman of Union College. The championship meet will be held March 9, 10, and 11 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn. Carleton College is the host school.
