Geoffrey Lesch-Wragge (Fredonia), a junior, was fourth in a field of 41 runners in 1:55.53. A transfer student, it was Lesch-Wragge's first race as a Blue Devil. In the same event, Rob Rappole (Bemus Point/Maple Grove) was 14th in 1:59.62. In other events, Justin Schwab (Killbuck/Salamanca) was eighth in the men's high jump. He cleared 6' 3 1/4"; Tom Williams (Queensbury) was 12th in the 3,000 meters (9:07.39); and Chris Walters (Tonawanda/Sweeet Home) was 14th in the mile (4:33.63). On the women's side, Jessica Bennett (Rochester/West Irondequoit) was eighth in the 3,000 meters (10:36.45). Samantha Ellwood (Hamburg) was 10th in the same event (11:15.48). Also, Hailey Guard (Youngstown/Lewiston-Porter) finished eighth in the 500 meters (1:28.69), and Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie?Arlington) was 14th in the women's shotput. Her best throw was 39' 10". There were 43 women in the event.
