One day after she was crowned women's 20-pound weight throw champ, Hopson threw the shot 12.21 meters, which converts to 40 feet, 3/4 inch. She earned eight points in the event and 18 points in the meet. The Blue Devil women were eighth and the men 12th in the team standings. Also finishing second for the women was freshman Kate Brett (Webster/Webster-Schroeder) in the 55-meter high hurdles in a season-best 8.74 seconds. Three other Blue Devils earned third-place finishes: senior Nicole C. Smith (Amherst) in the women's 400 meters, sophomore Michael Kelley (Geneseo) in the men's triple jump, and junior Geoffrey Lesch-Wragge (Fredonia) in the men's 800 meters. Smith was clocked in 60.77 seconds, Kelley's triple jump was a personal-best 13.77 meters (45 feet, 2 1/4 inches), while Lesch-Wragge stopped watches in 1:55.67. Senior distance runner Samantha Ellwood (Hamburg) was sixth in the 3,000 meters in a personal-best 11:09.26, while junior Trisha Ippolito (Angola/Lake Shore) was eighth in the 1,000 meters in a personal-best 3:10.94 In the relays, the Fredonia State women's 4-by-400 quartet of Smith, Brett, sophomore Rhea Williams (Windsor), and freshman Laura Dickerman (Corning/Corning-Painted Post West) finished sixth in 4:10.96, while the men's 4-by-800 relay of Lesch-Wragge, junior Joe Vella (Hamburg), freshman Josh Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen), and freshman Nick Guarino (Bergen/Byron-Bergen) was seventh in 8:12.77.
