Two firsts by Devil men at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Two Fredonia State men won events Saturday at athe 22-team Slippery Rock Invitational.

Sophomore Michael Pond (Somers/Somers) won the 5,000 meters in 15:54. Meanwhile, junior Andy Forma (Elma/St. Francis) was victorious in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:37.55.

The women's 3,000-meter steeplechase also produced a Fredonia State highlight as senior Alison Morgan (Hilton/Hilton) broke her own school record with a 12:27.76 clocking.

Other highlights by the men were personal-bests by sophomore Brett Csont (Dunkirk/Dunkirk) in the 100 meters (:11.16) and the 200 meters (:22.3), and a personal-best by freshman Matt Wysocki (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) of 2:03/97 in the 800 meters.

Csont's 200-meter time was an ECAC and state qualifying dash.

For the women, junior Aimee Milks (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) was fourth in the 5,000 meters (19:43) and set a personal-best in the 1,500 (5:07.51).

Also, freshman Julia Hopson (Poughkeepsie/Arlington) had a lifetime best in the hammerthrow (143' 2") and junior Stephanie Milks (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) had a personal-best in the 200 (:26.5).

The Blue Devils compete April 22 at the University at Buffalo.
