Devils competing at NYSCTC meet this weekend

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Members of the Fredonia State men's and women's track and field teams will compete this Friday at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference championship meet at the University of Rochester.

Eight Blue Devils are heading into the meet as top five seeds in their respective events. They are:

Kate Brett, a freshman from Webster, first in the women's 100-meter high hurdles (14.96 seconds), and second in the women's 400-meter hurdles (1:04.07);

Nicole C. Smith, a junior from Amherst, fifth in the women's 400 meters (1:00.09);

Samantha Ellwood, a senior from Hamburg, first in the women's 10,000 meters (39:37.29);

Jackie Majka, a sophomore from Depew, fourth in the women's high jump (1.61 meters), and second in the women's long jump (5.27 meters);

Julia Hopson, a junior from Poughkeepsie, second in the women's shot put (12.92 meters), and first in the women's hammerthrow (54.24 meters);

Geoff Lesch-Wragge, a junior from Fredonia, fourth in the men's 800 meters (1:54.87);

Josh Guarino, a freshman from Bergen, fourth in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:40.47);

Justin Schwab, a senior from Killbuck, third in the men's high jump (1.95 meters);

and, Mike Kelley, a sophomore from Geneseo, fourth in the men's triple jump (13.70 meters).
