Galvin earns second SUNYAC title

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Jennifer Galvin (Pompey/Fabius-Pompey) added the SUNYAC discus championship to her hammer throw title during the final day of competition Saturday.

A junior, Galvin earned 10 points for her team with a winning throw of 39.79 meters in the discus Saturday. She won the hammer throw Friday.

The Blue Devils earned 48 team points overall to finish in sixth place.

Also earning points Saturday for the Blue Devil women were Kristen Veltz (Brockport/Brockport), who was fifth in the 5,000 meter run; Melissa Sweazey (Lansing/Lansing) and Krista Morse (Freedom/Pioneer), fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles; Liz Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's of Lancaster), fourth in the triple jump; and Meredith Schichtel (Frontier/Hamburg), fifth in the javelin.

The Fredonia State men finished ninth in the team scoring. Saturday point-getters included Charles Infurna (Rochester/Webster), sixth in the discus with a personal-best throw; and Kevin Buzzelli (Grand Island/Grand Island), sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
