Women's Volleyball

Blue Devil's open invitational with pair of wins

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's volleyball team opened up the Blue Devil Invitational with a wins against the University of Rochester and Oneonta State.

The Devils defeated Rochester 3-0 (31-29, 30-17, 30-19). Leading the offense for the Devils was Amy Bertrando (Westfield/Westfield) with 10 kills and Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/Mount Mercy) with 11 kills. Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) had 36 assists.

Against Oneonta, the Blue Devils won 3-1 (30-25, 30-25, 24-30, 30-24). The Blue Devil were led by Torpy with 40 assists, Kaitlin Erdmann (Randolph/Randolph) with 17 kills, and Bertrando with 11 kills.

The Devils are now 16-10 on the season. They will play again tomorrow at 10 a.m. against Mount St. Joseph, and again at 2 p.m. against Penn St. Behrend.
