Devils fall 3-0 to Rochester

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State found tough going Tuesday in a non-conference home match vs. the University of Rochester.

The Yellowjackets improved to 16-5 overall with a 30-15, 30-22, 30-22 victory before an estimated crowd of 200 at Dods Hall.

The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 14-12 heading into SUNYAC West Division Pool Play starting Friday at Brockport.

Senior middle hitter Stephanie DeGolier (Cassadaga/Cassadaga Valley), sophomore outside hitters Amy Bertrando (Westfield/Westfield) and Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/St. Mary's) led the Blue Devils with eight kills each.

Junior outside hitter JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) and sophomore defensive specialist Val Grell (Lancaster/Lancaster) had three service aces each. Maloney added two service aces and a team-high 10 digs, while sophomore setter Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) was credited with 17 assists.
