Women's Volleyball

Devils fall in four games

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fredonia State dropped a 3-1 decision Tuesday to the University of Rochester.

The Blue Devils (21-7) won the first game, 30-24, before dropping the next three by scores of 17-30, 20-30 and 28-30.

Freshman outside hitter Amy Bertrando (Westfield/Westfield) and sophomore outside hitter JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) connected for 11 kills each. Senior middle hitter Liz Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's) added 9 kills.

In addition, sophomore outside hitter-defensive specialist Paula Baire (Lancaster/Nardin) was credited with 16 digs, senior setter Traci Pieczynski (Lancaster/St. Mary's) had 41 assists and 6 digs, and freshman outside hitter Katie Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's) added 3 service aces and 4 digs.

The Blue Devils travel to Oswego next for the second round of SUNYAC Western Division Pool Play this Friday and Saturday.
