The Devils defeated Oswego 30-26, 30-15 and 30-27 in the opening match. They then fell to Brockport 30-22, 30-24 and 30-26 in the nightcap. The Blue Devils now stand at 15-13 overall and 3-3 in the SUNYAC West Division. In the victory over Oswego, senior middle hitter Stephanie DeGolier (Cassadaga/Cassadaga Valley) and sophomore outside hitter Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/St. Mary's) paced the offense with 10 kills each. Maloney added 11 digs. Junior outside hitter JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) added eight kills, three aces and 12 digs. Sophomore setter Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) had 33 assists and eight digs. DeGolier and Maloney teamed up again to highlight the offensive attack in the loss to Brockport. They had nine kills each, while DeGolier chipped in seven blocks and Maloney had eight digs. Dixon turned in another all-around effort, with four kills, two blocks and 17 digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Val Grell (Lancaster/Lancaster) added 14 digs, while Torpy tacked on 19 assists. The Devils take on Geneseo and Buffalo State tomorrow afternoon to wrap up pool play.
