Women's Volleyball

Devils finish pool play with win

BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women split a pair of matches during day two of SUNYAC West Division Pool Play at Brockport. The Devils fell to Geneseo 30-23, 30-32, 24-30 and 24-30. The Devils came back to win the second match 30-15, 30-18 and 30-22 against Buffalo State.

The Devils are now 16-14 overall and 4-4 in the SUNYAC West Division. They finish the regular season in 3rd place in the West.

Senior middle hitter Stephanie DeGolier (Cassadaga/Cassadaga Valley) had 16 kills and two blocks in the loss to Geneseo. Sophomore outside hitter Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/St. Mary's) had nine kills, 24 digs and two blocks. Junior outside hitter JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) added nine kills, 14 digs, four blocks and three aces. Sophomore setter Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) had 37 assists, 17 digs and three blocks.

DeGolier and Maloney teamed up to highlight the offensive attack in the game two win over Buffalo State. They had eight and 10 kills respectively, while each added two blocks. Maloney also had 10 digs. Torpy added 23 assists. Junior Paula Baire (Lancaster/Nardin) had 11 digs and three aces.
