Devils swept on second day of pool play

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Fredonia State lost both its SUNYAC Western Division Pool Play matches Saturday at Oswego.

The Blue Devils (23-9, 4-4 SUNYAC) were defeated by Brockport and Geneseo by identical match scores of 3-0.

Sophomore outside hitter JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) had 11 kills and senior middle hitter Elizabeth Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's) added 10 kills in a 23-30, 27-30, 26-30 loss to Brockport State.

Senior setter Traci Pieczynski (Lancaster/St. Mary's) was credited with 36 assists, and freshman outside hitter Bethany Kibbe (San Antonio, Texas/John Marshall) had 17 digs. Schaller led the Blue Devils with four blocks.

The Blue Devils closed out pool play with a 17-30, 25-30, 23-30 loss to Geneseo.

In the Geneseo match, Dixon led the Blue Devils with nine kills, Pieczynski had 21 assists and 3 service aces, Kibbe collected 16 digs, and freshman outside hitter Tonja Royce (Forestville/Forestville) was credited with four blocks.

The Blue Devils are back in action Tuesday (Oct. 25) at Allegheny College.
