Devils to play Nov. 2 in SUNYAC Tournament

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State now knows the possible opponent, the date, and the time of its SUNYAC Tournament semifinal match at SUNY Cortland.

The Blue Devils (24-11, 9-1 SUNYAC) will play 6 p.m. Nov. 2 against the winner of the Geneseo vs. New Paltz quarterfinal, which be played Nov. 1.

Fredonia State drew a first-day bye by virtue of earning the No. 1 West Division seed after pool-play competition over the weekend. Among its wins at Dods Hall was a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Geneseo. Down 2-0, the Blue Devils rallied in what was their most competitive match of the five they played at Dods Hall.

The Blue Devils also defeated Geneseo on its own court, 3-0, when the teams met in the first round of pool play in September. Geneseo landed the No. 3 seed in the West while New Paltz is the No. 2 seed in the East Division, behind No. 1 seed and championship tourney host Cortland.

The championship format is single elimination with the championship game set for 2 p.m. Saturday, November 3.
