In the process, the Blue Devils (25-12) established a single-season high for wins dating back to 1985. Three other teams (1997, 2003, and 2005) had 24-win seasons. The Blue Devils reached the 25-win mark with a 30-25, 30-26, 30-20 victory over host Washington and Jefferson. Junior outside hitter Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/Mount Mercy) had team highs of 19 digs and five service aces. She also added three kills. Junior outside hitter Amy Bertrando (Westfield) collected 12 kills and two blocks, freshman middle blocker Kaitlin Erdmann (Randolph) had 15 kills and one block, and freshman Danielle McNeil (West Seneca/St. Mary's) was credited with 14 digs. The Blue Devils closed out the regular season with a 23-30, 22-30, 30-28, 28-30 loss to Westminster. Bertrando led the team with 16 kills and four blocks, in addition to six digs. Maloney had a team-high 18 digs, Erdmann 11 kills, junior defensive specialist Val Grell (Lancaster) 11 digs, while junior setter Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) collected 45 assists, eight digs, and two blocks. When the Blue Devils return to action, it'll be at the SUNYAC Tournament 6:30 p.m. Fruday vs. the winner of the Geneseo vs. New Paltz quarterfinal match. The single-elimination tournament will be held Thursday through Saturday at SUNY Cortland.
