Devils sweep UPB in home opener

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State downed Pitt-Bradford, 3-0, in the home opener at Dods Hall.

The Blue Devils (7-4) made short order of the Panthers by scores of 30-20, 30-19, 30-22.

Junior outside hitter JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg.Frontier) had nine kills, 10 digs and four blocks to lead the Blue Devils.

Also contributing 10 digs each were sophomore outside hitter Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/Mount Mercy) and junior defensive specialist Paula Baire (Lancaster/Nardin). Maloney also led the team with four service aces.

Sophomore outside hitter Tonja Royce (Forestville/Forestville) added eight kills, three service aces, and five digs, while sophomore setter Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrieta) collected 23 assists.

The Blue Devils are back in action Friday at the RIT Tournament vs. the host Tigers.
