Devils defeated twice at RIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fredonia State lost a pair of matches Saturday on the second day of the RIT Tournament.

The Blue Devils (6-7) were defeated first by Ithaca College, 3-2, with games scores of 30-19, 15-30, 30-26, 29-31 and 15-12. Junior outsite hitter Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/Mount Mercy) had team highs of 18 kills and 27 digs, while junior setter Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) collected 57 assists and 23 digs.

In the second match of the day, New York University defeated the Blue Devils, 3-1, by scores of 30-23, 24-30, 30-15 and 30-27. Maloney had nine kills, 20 digs, and five aces. Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Karan (Orchard Park) added seven aces and seven digs.

The Blue Devils visit Nazareth on Tuesday night.
