The Blue Devils (9-7) fell 30-27 in the first game, only to roll to a 30-18 win in Game 2. Nazareth capture Game 3, 30-24, before the Blue Devils rolled 30-14 in Game 4. The visitors won the decisive fifth game, 15-10. Sophomore outside hitter Amy Bertrando (Westfield/Westfield) was credited with 17 kills, while junior outside hitter JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) added 11, and sophomore outside hitter Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/Mt. Mercy) had 10. Sophomore setter Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) collected 47 assists. In addition, three Blue Devils had double-digit digs: Maloney with 20, Dixon with 14, and sophomore defensive specialist Val Grell (Lancaster/Lancaster) with 10. Dixon added eight blocks, while Torpy and senior middle hitter Stephanie DeGolier (Cassadaga/Cassadaga Valley) had three blocks each. Fredonia State is back in action over the weekend in the SUNYAC West Division Pool Play tournament at Buffalo State starting Friday at 4 p.m.
