Bertrando makes all-tournament team

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Sophomore outside hitter Amy Bertrando (Westfield/Westfield) was selected to the 2006 Cortland Red Dragon All-Tournament Team.

Bertrando made her mark at the net over five games, including 14 kills and two blocks vs. Eastern Connecticut State during Silver Pool play Saturday. The Blue Devils (2-3) won the match, 3-1 (30-25, 30-21, 10-30, 30-24).

Junior outside hitter JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) added 11 kills and was credited with six blocks, while sophomore setter Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) collected 39 assists, 14 digs, and three blocks.

Also Saturday, the Blue Devils fell to Lebanon Valley, 3-1 (15-30, 28-30, 31-29, 26-30). Dixon had 12 kills, 17 digs, and two blocks to lead the way. Senior middle hitter Stephanie Degolier (Cassadaga/Cassadaga Valley) collected eight kills and five blocks.

The Blue Devils are back in action Tuesday at Alfred University.
