The Blue Devils (11-9, 2-2 SUNYAC) dropped a 3-0 decision to Geneseo and fell 3-1 to Brockport on Friday. They rebounded for 3-1 and 3-0 wins Saturday over Oswego and Buffalo State, respectively. With a 2-2 mark, the Blue Devils are tied for second with Oswego and Geneseo in the West Division standings. Brockport is 4-0 while Buffalo State is 0-4. The same five teams meet again Oct. 20 and Oct. 21 at Brockport. In the 30-20, 27-30, 30-25, 30-23 win Saturday over Oswego, sophomore outside hitter Amy Bertrando (Westfield/Westfield) had 13 kills and seven digs, sophomore setter Alyssa Torpy (Lancaster/Lancaster) had 39 assists, four service aces and 12 digs, and sophomore outside hitter Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/Mount Mercy) collected 20 digs and eight kills. The Blue Devils followed that win up with a 30-12, 30-10, 30-10 win over Buffalo State in which Bertrando had 11 kills and three blocks, Torpy 23 assists and three service aces, and freshman outside hitter Jessica Karan (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) five service aces. In the first match Friday, Torpy had 22 assists, senior middle hitter Stephanie DeGolier (Cassadaga/Cassadaga Valley) eight kills and two blocks, and junior outside hitter JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) six kills, 10 digs, and four blocks in a 27-30, 17-30, 31-33 loss to Geneseo. The Friday nightcap resulted in a 30-25, 24-30, 26-30, 24-30 loss to Brockport. Torpy had 33 assists, Maloney 10 kills and 12 digs, and Bertrando 18 kills, three digs, and five blocks. The Blue Devils return to action next Friday in the Oneonta Tournament.
