Women's Volleyball

Devils rally over Nazareth in five games

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fredonia State rallied several times Wednesday, including one last time, for a 3-2 victory over Nazareth.

The Blue Devils (14-5) scored the final three points after trailing 15-14 in the decisive fifth game for a 14-30, 30-22, 30-23, 17-30 and 17-15 road win.

Sophomore JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) was the top hitter with 14 kills, 7 digs, and 2 blocks while senior Traci Pieczynski (Lancaster/St. Mary's) was credited with 39 assists and 11 digs.

Also, freshman Amy Bertrando (Westfield/Westfield) had 9 kills and 2 digs, and junior Stephanie DeGolier (Cassadaga/Cassadaga Valley) had 8 kills and 4 blocks.

Freshman Tonja Royce (Forestville/Forestville) and senior Liz Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's) added 5 blocks each. Royce also was credited with 3 kills.

The Blue Devils, ranked No. 10 in the New York State Women's Collegite Athletic Associaiton poll, visit Hilbert College for matches Saturday vs. LaRoche (1 p.m.) and the host Hawks (3 p.m.).
