Bertrando had 15 kills to go along with four blocks in a 3-0 loss to Ithaca College. She had 19 kills and three blocks in a 3-0 win over Skidmore. In the 26-30, 24-30, 26-30 loss to Ithaca, the Blue Devils (12-10) also received 13 kills and five blocks from senior middle hitter Stephanie DeGolier (Cassadaga/Cassadaga Valley), and 31 assists plus two service aces by sophomore setter Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta). The Blue Devils bounced back for a 30-22, 30-21, 30-28 win over Skidmore. In addition to Bertrando's play, DeGolier and sophomore outside hitter Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/Mount Mercy) had seven kills each, while DeGolier added four blocks and Maloney three service aces. In addition, sophomore defensive specialist Val Grell (Lancaster/Lancaster) and sophomore outside hitter Katie Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's) had 14 digs each, while Torpy collected 27 assists and six service aces. The Blue Devils return to action Saturday morning in the tournament with a 9:30 a.m. match vs. Mount St. Mary, followed by 11:30 a.m. vs. Union.
