The Blue Devils (2-2) fell to Cortland by scores of 30-27, 28-30, 30-26 and 30-24. Lebanon Valley then downed the Devils by 27-30, 30-17, 30-28 and 30-24. At the end of play, senior Liz Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's) was named to the all-tournament team. She had 15 kills against Lebanon Valley. Traci Pieczynski (Lancaster/St. Mary's), Fredonia State's senior setter, was credited wth 101 assists in the two matches Saturday -- 52 vs. Cortland, 49 vs. Lebanon Valley. JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) had 10 kills and five blocks vs. Cortland. In the match vs. Lebanon Valley, Bethany Kibbe (San Antonio, Texas/John Marshall) had 13 kills and 17 digs, and Stephanie DeGolier (Cassadaga/Cassadaga Valley) had 13 kills. The Blue Devils defeated Skidmore and Point Park earlier in the tournament. "We wanted to win our first two matches," head coach Geoff Braun said, "so that we'd get to play better competition (today). We definitely made an impression. Those were good teams we were playing." Cortland entered play as the No. 23-ranked team in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
