Women's Volleyball

Devils sweep Alfred handily

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State swept Alfred, 3-0, in women's non-conference volleyball at Dods Hall.

An estimated crowd of 200 saw the Blue Devils (3-2), playing at home for the first time this season, roll by scores of 30-17, 30-17 and 30-15.

Elizabeth Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's) and Stephanie DeGolier (Cassadaga/Cassadaga Valley) were Fredonia State's top hitters with 12 and 10 kills, respectively.

JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) added nine kills, while Bethany Kibbe (San Antonio, Texas/John Marshall) had seven kills, a team-high five service aces, and six digs.

Paula Baire (Lancaster/Nardin) led the Devils with seven digs, and Traci Pieczynski (Lancaster/St. Mary's) was credited with a team-high 28 assists.

The Blue Devils return to competition Friday and Saturday at the Penn State Behrend Invitational.
