Devils win twice at Penn-Behrend Tourney

ERIE, PA. -- Fredonia State swept both Medaille and Bethany last night at the Behrend tourney with scores of 30-20, 30-12, 30-18, and 30-12, 30-19, 30-17, respectively.

The Blue Devils (5-2) were led in the Medaille match by senior Jahanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) with 11 kills. Freshman Jenna Tatu (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) had six kills. Sophomore Jessica Karan (Orchard Park) led the team with five service aces. Junior Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) led the assist column with 15, while junior Tonja Royce (Forestville) had 13 assists. Leading the team defensively was junior Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/Mt. Mercy) with six digs.

In the Bethany match, the Blue Devils were led by Maloney and junior Amy Bertrando (Westfield) with 11 kills each. Torpy and Royce again led the assist colum with 23 and 19, respectively. Leading the team defensively was Maloney with 15 digs.

The Blue Devils will play tourney host Penn State-Behrend at 2 p.m. today.
