Women's Volleyball

Devils split at Behrend

ERIE, Pa. -- The Fredonia State volleyball team defeated Kenyon in the opening match 3-0 (30-20, 30-23, 30-15), before bowing to Penn State Behrend in straight sets (23-30, 21-30, 20-30) on Saturday afternoon.

In the first match, sophomore Amy Bertrando (Westfield/Westfield) had 14 kills and Stephanie Degolier (Cassadaga/Cassadaga Valley) had 13. JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) had a game-high 18 digs, while Alyssa Torpy (West Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) had 40 assists.

In the loss to Behrend, Leanne Maloney (West Seneca/Mount Mercy) had 10 kills and 22 digs.

The Devils were 3-1 in the Tournament, good enough for second place behind host Penn State Behrend (4-0). Bertrando was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Blue Devils (6-4 overall) have their home-opener Tuesday at 7 p.m. versus Pitt-Bradford.
