Road win for Blue Devils

ERIE, Pa. – Fredonia State used a balance attack at Penn State Behrend and securred a 3-1 victory Thursday.

Freshman outside hitter JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) had a team-high 13 kills for the Blue Devils (14-7), who emerged with a 30-27, 21-30, 30-23 and 30-24 victory. Dixon also had 10 digs -- one of six Devils in double figures in the category -- and two blocks.

Senior middle hitter Heather Martin (Allegany/Allegany-Limestone) put down 12 kills. She also had a six blocks, 13 digs and two aces.

Junior middle hitter Liz Schaller (Marilla/St. Mary's) was productive at the net with a team-high seven blocks plus eight kills. Also recording eight kills was sophomore outside hitter Lindsey Drum (Wayland/Wayland-Cohocton). Drum also had 10 digs and three blocks.

Junior defensive specialist Kim Schmitz (Derby/Lake Shore) and freshman defensive specialist Allyson Strein (Mineola/Mineola) led the Devils with 23 digs each. Schmitz also had two aces.

Freshman outside hitter-defensive specialist Paula Baire (Lancaster/Nardin) was credited with 12 digs and a team-high three aces while junior setter Traci Pieczynski (Lancaster/St. Mary's) had a team-high 40 assists, eight digs, and two aces.

The Blue Devils are back in action Saturday when they visit Medaille to play the host Mavericks and Frostburg State.
