Nazareth defeats Fredonia State, 3-1

FREDONIA, N.Y. – After taking the first game 32-30, Fredonia State (21-12) dropped the next three games 22-30, 30-32 and 23-30 as Nazareth (15-13) came back to take the match 3-1.

For the Blue Devils, it was the last home game for senior Heather Martin (Allegany/Allegany-Limestone) . The school's all-time kills leader, Martin again led the Blue Devils in that category with 15. She also collected 24 digs. Freshman JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Fronteir) added 12 kills, while Allyson Strein (Mineola) collected 21 digs.

The Blue Devils will now advance to the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament Oct. 30 at SUNY Cortland. The Devils, entering as the No. 11 seed, will play the University of Rochester (No. 6) in the first round. Nazareth, the No. 9 seed in the NYSWCAA, will take on No. 8 Geneseo.

The Blue Devils are also scheduled to play Oneonta Nov. 5 in the first round of the six-team SUNYAC Tournament at Brockport State.
