Senior Heather Martin (Allegany/Allegany-Limestone) had 20 kills, 17 digs, 5 services aces, and 5 blocks in the 30-20, 30-26, 28-30, 30-23 victory over Buffalo State. Junior Traci Pieczynski (Lancaster/St. Mary's) collected 40 assists and freshman Allyson Strein (Mineola/Mineola) added 12 digs. In their first match of the day, the Blue Devils (21-11, 6-2) were one point away from potentially earning the No. 1 seed in the Western Division. They had a 14-11 lead in the decisive fifth game, only to fall 16-14 to Brockport (19-9, 7-1), which became the No. 1 seed and the host team for the SUNYAC Championship Tournament on Nov. 6-7. The final score of the match, in Brockport's favor, was 30-28, 31-33, 30-28, 30-20 and 16-14. Martin was credited with 15 kills and 24 digs, Pieczynski 56 assists and 24 digs, Strein 29 digs, freshman JaHanna Dixon (Hamburg/Frontier) 15 kills, and junior Lindsey Drum (Wayland/Wayland-Cohocton) 10 kills.
