Shooting, turnovers costly in loss to Oswego

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- SUNY Oswego lead from start to finish as it rolled to a 60-38 SUNYAC road win over Fredonia State.

The Lakers (5-5, 2-1) forced 26 turnovers in the game and held the Blue Devils (7-4, 2-2) to 13 points in the second half.

Neither team had a strong shooting performance, especially from the perimeter. The Blue Devils connected on 26.4 percent from the field and made only 2 of 15 three-pointers. The Lakers shot 37.5 percent overall, a figure that would have been better if not for 4 of 19 from beyond the arc.

Junior guard Kelly Mraz (Johnstown/Johnstown) and junior forward Jessica Tremblay (Colonie/Colonie) led a balanced Oswego attack with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Mraz added a game-high six assists.

Fredonia State's scoring lead was shared by junior forward Lisa Gentile (Utica/Whitesboro) and sophomore forward Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) with eight points each. They also were Fredonia State's top rebounders, 12 for Kindzia and 10 for Gentile.

Next up for the Blue Devils is a home SUNYAC game Saturday vs. New Paltz at 2 p.m.
