Lakers sail to win

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Oswego State Lakers defeated Fredonia State 67-55 in SUNYAC women's basketball action on Friday.

The Lakers, who improved a perfect 4-0 in conference play and 10-2 overall, were led by Lacey Kimpland with 14 points. Kelly Mraz hit for 13 points and dished out six assists and collected three steals.

Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) topped Fredonia State with 18 points. Lisa Gentile (Utica/Whitesboro) had nine points and five assists.

The Lakers led 37-23 at halftime. In the second half, the Devils would cut the lead to six on a Gentile free throw at 8:08, but that is as close as they would come.

The Devils drop to 4-7 overall and 0-4 in the SUNYAC. They play host to Cortland on Saturday evening at Steele Hall. The Lakers travel to Buffalo State.
