Devils fall in conference showdown

UTICA, N.Y. -- After trailing 32-27 at halftime, Fredonia State (6-10, 2-8) and SUNYIT (5-12, 1-7) went back and forth early in the second half as the lead changed hands ten times before SUNYIT took the lead for good on a Kieran Burns three-pointer with 4:23 remaining.

The Devils trailed 34-27 just after the half before going on a 9-0 run to gain the lead with 16:00 left to play. SUNYIT closed out the final 6:18 with a 17-7 run to defeat Fredonia 64-57.

Junior Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) and senior Lisa Gentile (Utica/Whitesboro) led the way for Fredonia scoring 17 points each. Kindzia also grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double.

Senior Karolyn Baker (Olean/Olean) added 10 points and five assists for the Devils.

Burns led all scorers with 19 points including five three-pointers.
