Gentile, Kindzia lead Devils over Buffalo State

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Senior forward Lisa Gentile (Utica/Whitesboro) scored 24 points and junior forward Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) had a double-double to lead Fredonia State to a 84-72 SUNYAC home win over Buffalo State.

Gentile was 9 of 15 from the field, including 4 of 6 from three-point range, while Kindzia was 8 of 11 to finish with 17 points. She also grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds as the Blue Devils improved to 8-10 overall, 4-7 in the SUNYAC.

A key factor in the outcome was bench scoring. The Blue Devil reserves combined for 27 points compared to Buffalo State's nine points. Junior guard Maria Scaffidi (Buffalo/Holy Angels) led the way with 14 points. She also collected four assists, while starting point guard Karolyn Baker (Olean/Olean) had eight assists. She leads the SUNYAC in the category.

The Bengals (6-14, 3-8 SUNYAC) had four players in double figures, led by Jacey Brooks (Machias/Franklinville) with 18, followed by Shareese Hamer (Erie, Pa./Strong Vincent) with 16.

Fredonia State returns to SUNYAC action at home 6 p.m. Friday vs. Brockport.
