Devils settle Pioneers

ERIE, Pa. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team picked up an 83-70 victory over Marietta in the opening round of the Penn State Behrend Tip-Off Tournament.

Junior forward Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) led the Devils with a 24-point, 13-rebound performance. Junior forward Danielle Bleecker (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) added 17 markers, while senior guard Maria Scaffidi (Buffalo/Holy Angels) netted 12 points.

The Pioneers were led by Justine Pagenhardt's 28 points. Abby Hess and Amanda Carraher added 14 apiece.

Fredonia State made 13 of 14 free throws (92.9%) aiding in its win.

The Devils will face Penn State Behrend on Sunday in the championship game. Behrend defeated Waynesburg 67-43 in the second game.
