Devils make early lead stand at D'Youville

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fredonia State jumped to an early lead and never looked back in its 58-47 non-conference road win over D'Youville College.

Danielle Bleecker (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) had 25 points and nine rebounds for the Blue Devils (2-1), who led 14-0 early in the first half and 27-15 at halftime.

Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) added 19 points and 13 rebounds, and Lisa Gentile (Utica/Whiteboro) grabbed 10 rebounds.

Karolyn Baker (Olean/Olean) was Fredonia State's floor leader with six assists and three steals.

"We did a lot of nice things (offensively)," Fredonia State coach Donna Wise said, "but unfortunately the ball wasn't falling."

The loss dropped D'Youville to 1-2.

Fredonia State is back in action Nov. 29 in a SUNYAC game at Buffalo State.
