Encore for Devils: Baker follows teammate to weekly honor

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- A Fredonia State player has been honored with the SUNYAC Player of the Week award for the second straight week.

Senior guard Karolyn Baker (Olean/Olean) is the latest Blue Devil recipient. She earned the weekly award on the strength of two non-conference home games last week. In the first game, a 68-64 Fredonia State win over D'Youville, Baker scored 16 points and recorded six assists, five steals, and three rebounds. In a 78-66 overtime loss to Penn State Behrend, Baker led the Blue Devils (3-1) with 21 points and a career-high nine assists. She also grabbed four rebounds, had one steal, and blocked one shot. In the two games combined, Baker averged 18.0 points and 7.5 assists. She shot 77.8 percent from the field (14 of 18), including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc.

Junior forward Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) received the SUNYAC Player of the Week honor last Monday, the first time the award was made this season.
