Devils lead early, overtaken by Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Fredonia State fashioned an early, shortlived lead in its eventual 62-48 SUNYAC road loss to Brockport.

The Blue Devils led by as many as six points in the early going and held a 10-5 lead before the Golden Eagles (3-0, 1-0 SUNYAC) went on a 14-2 run, from which the Blue Devils (3-2, 0-1 SUNYAC) were unable to recover.

Junior forward Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) led Fredonia State with 19 points. She also tied for the team lead with four assists, made three steals, and blocked a shot.

Senior forward Lisa Gentile (Utica/Whitesboro) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

The trip to Brockport was the first of three SUNYAC road games this week for the Blue Devils. They return to action 6 p.m. Friday at New Paltz, and close out the week 2 p.m. Saturday at Oneonta.
