Devils roll over Hilbert

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State ended a three-game losing streak with a 52-37 women's basketball win over Hilbert College.

Blue Devil senior forward Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) recorded her fourth double-double of the season, a 12-point and 16-rebound effort.

Earning her first starting assignment of the season, freshman guard Caroline Hourihan (Buffalo/Nardin Academy) responded with a season-high 10 points. In addition, senior guard Maria Scaffidi (Buffalo/Holy Angels) and junior guard Angela Pucciarelli (Fredonia) added seven points each.

Scaffidi collected four assists and moved into seventh place on the Fredonia State all-time playmaking list with 197. She overtook Natasha Seabrook, who collected 193 assists from 1989-93.

The Blue Devils (3-4) never trailed in the game, led 30-15 at halftime, and pushed out to a 23-point lead (50-27) with 5:33 left in the second half. It was their 10th win in 11 meetings against Hilbert.

Fredonia State closes out the first semester with a 6 p.m. game Saturday at Penn State Behrend.
