Devils cruise over Behrend

ERIE, Pa. -- Fredonia State cruised to a 69-46 road victory over Penn State Behrend in women's college basketball.

Senior forward Cheryl Kindzia (Williamsville/Williamsville North) had 25 points and 12 rebounds -- her fifth double-double of the season -- while senior guard Maria Scaffidi (Buffalo/Holy Angels) had a season-high 19 points. Junior guard Leisel Renaud (Brookyln/Humanities Prep) added 10 points, eight rebounds, and a team-high three steals.

Kindzia also blocked five shots and had a team-high four assists.

The Blue Devils (4-4) trailed by five points twice in the first half before righting themselves. They took their first lead, 18-16, on a basket by Scaffidi at the 7:51 mark of the first half. After a Behrend basket forged an 18-18 tie, the Blue Devils went on a 14-2 run. Renaud had six points during the run, including a layup off one of her steals.

Fredonia State led 34-23 at halftime and opened up a lead as large as 25 points late in the game.

The loss dropped the host Lions to 5-6.
